Congrats Dennis. Its a great car that keeps getting better with every update. 10 years in, its still THE roadster of choice for someone looking for pure fun, with a dash of practicality. Enjoy the car in the best of health.
Thanks.

Each time I look to see if there is something I would rather have and the answer comes back "not for this price". For example, I bet a Boxster S would be a nice drive, but I can get about 2 S2000s for the price of one of them .

Hondata reflash = $595?

A lotta bux for a small boost in the midrange.

But it also allows VTEC to kick in sooner and an 8600 rpm redline. The ellusive 9K redline is that much closer with the torque of the 2.2...

- Anyone who says they can perceive a difference between DBW and conventional throttle is full of shit. Driven both on track - no difference. This has been the opinion of automotive reviewers as well.
Whether or not one can feel it depends on how perceptive one is.

The guy who runs vtec.net, Mr. Jeff Palmer owns a Model Year 2000 (mechanical throttle) and noted the following on his test drive of the 2008 CR with Drive By Wire.

"....but the lag in response from the DBW throttle system was keeping the revs from coming up quickly enough. I was a bit disappointed in this one issue, because besides the rev matching issue, there was no other DBW lag that I could sense. "

So your response for him sharing his observation is to critize the man?

I had an 01 that I traded for the 05 and I could tell a big difference between the two just in normal driving. I have not felt that same difference between the 05 and 08, which is the DBW change.

So going from an 00 to an 08 would feel a lot different not matter what, and the 08 he drove was the CR model not the normal model (I hate to call it the "base" model).

Granted there are power delivery and torque differences between the engines.

Don't confuse power delivery and torque characteristics with throttle delay.

Throttle delay is the time difference between when the throttle pedal is applied to when the engine response. The time delay is what we are discussing

Power and torque is how strong the engine response.

Now, if someone does a direct comparison of an AP2 with and without DBW, I would give that more weight.
I've driven an 07 DBW to compare to my 04, and I couldn't tell there was any lag with the DBW.

One other difference between my 05 and 08 S2000s - the color. Both are NFR and both have the SAME paint code inside the pax door jam, but the 05 is a darker red.

At first I thought it was the light or angle or something, then my wife said something about it. Parking them side by side they are not the same color. Normally, red has a bit of a sun fade problem, but in this case the older car is darker. It could be just the wax and polish on the old car - I have not "got round" to doing anything to the 08.

Same color name and paint point SHOULD be the same exact color, right?

I traded my 01 in on the 05 so I never parked those 2 side by side to compare them.
