thank you again, Harpoon for the update.

Agreed, the new car is nice. better than ours, no doubt since it IS ours but with more stuff, save the wheels. but it's not that much better that we should be crying about it. welcome it. i'm still surprised honda insists on giving us amber sidemarkers and the black tape on the windshield.

It definitely looks black on the pictures. Look at the picture that says "Control" on it, right in the bottom right corner, where the roof and hazard switches are, it is pure black, the same as in the picture that says "Connect"--not silver like in the 04-05 brochure I am looking at.

I dont have the actual '06 brochure, I'm just looking at the scans here. Does anyone have both of them that could compare?
I've got both the booklet and the scanned booklet photos and they are about the same (the scan is excellent quality). I can't tell if the center counsel is black or is silver and is casting a reflection of the black interior in the photo. About the only thing that the booklet adds that you cannot get from the scanned images is the feel of the booklet, which is classy. The cover feels like neoprene and is striking. Maybe this signals a changed philosophy for improved marketing the S2K by Honda.

I have seen several posts that mention a passenger airbag disable, but haven't found any description of this feature in the booklet. I can see either a light or a switch just above the shift knob on the page labeled connect of the booklet, but cannot tell if it is a switch. It makes little sense to have a passenger airbag light without a switch, but I can't find any mention of a disable switch in the manual.

There is a new switch on the center console, between the roof and emergency flasher switches, but this is not the location of the VSA switch. The VSA switch is visible in the side cockpit photo, page labeled connect, on the dash behind the steering wheel, in the location of the rear window defrost switch on my 05. Maybe the long, center (new) switch on the console is a new location for the rear window defrost.

So I'm surprised nobody noticed the instrument panel's new glove compartment yet...

Can you believe it. A *sports* car with a glove compartment...

VSA and Traction control will allow owners in the snow belt to have the S2000 as their daily driver all year.

I worry that the Traction control will shut down hard acceleration and that VSA will get involved with milds oversteer around corners.

Heated seats are the sought after item they could have included at extra cost as well as headlight washers.

As to replacing the rollbar speakers, Madisound in madison wisconsin can hook you up with anything in any size.
I've got ASC (traction control) on my Z3, although I believe it only works through the ABS without throttle control. BMW advises that ASC should be disabled when driving on snow or ice. I've been told that the disable switch was a must on the bimmer because the ASC makes the car squirrely as hell on ultra-slick surfaces, although I have never driven mine on ice. I suppose that time will tell whether the same instability will be encountered with VSA in the 06 S2K on ice and snow. Maybe Honda learned from the mistakes of the Germans and implemented superior traction control, although my bet is that you'll need to disable VSA on ultra-slick surfaces.

What does less raw really mean? A Porsche 911 Carrera from 1989 is a pretty raw car. It has no traction or stability control of any kind, no ABS brakes, not even power steering. Today's 911 Carrera S has a whole slew of electronic driver aids with acronyms such as PSM and PASM. Is the new Carrera S necessarily a diluted driver's car?

Some have criticized the new drive-by-wire system for taking away feel. If feel is a major priority for you, the electric power steering system of the S could also be considered as inferior to a conventional rack. The S2000 is nowhere near as tactile as a Boxster or even a Miata when it comes to steering feedback.

Don't take it too seriously; I'm just kidding about the sports car thing.
