I traded my WRX for an S2000. If don't require the practicality of a Sedan or easy year round driving, the S2000 will be a welcome change to the Subaru. The S2000 just feels so more precision than any Subaru and the 20006 Sti is a transition looking model. Once they go to the new look, then, I would consider the STi.

well ur answers are great. and im probably going to go for the "RIO" yellow. but one more question, this one if for ppl with wrx's. how are honda dealers with trade-ins?????
I don't know about them but you can try Carmax if there's one near you. I did that w/ my 02 Si and I got $1000 more and at blue book trade in. Nissan dealers were trying to give me a whole lot less.

if you do decide to trade be sure the numbers are good on both sides. you can see a guy that just posted a used one and he wasn't happy w/ the numbers they did.

enjoy. it's a fun car but it's my 2nd car as a toy and commuter. I couldn't live w/ it as my sole car.

I just sold my 04 STi for a 05 S2k. There you go.

I've always wanted a roadster and become a better driver, this car handles good but takes skill. IMIMHOSTi is a great car, performance wise and it is practical with 4 seats and a good size trunk. I kinda miss the 300lb of torque already.

Bottom line, it comes down to personal preferences.

I was actually in between going for the S,or a 540i 6speed..but I could picture much more fun in the S..(also,,i DESPISE backseat commentators/drivers/messMakers,,so i just cut the backseat option out the ride,,and boom..the S was picked...(althought im talking my dad into a 540 now,,he wants a S4..regardless,it'll be many trade-nights soon.hah)

First of all, it's rio yellow and you should be able to get it down to at least 29.5k.
Second of all, I don't think STi is the right vehicle for California, unless you regularly travel to Yosemite/Sequoia or plan to move elsewhere soon. Subarus are very popular in places like WY/SD/ND/MN ( i'd even say that over there Subaru is #1 selling foreign make ). Here you will be paying extra for an expensive feature that you don't really need, something that you are likely never going to use, something that increases level of sophistication of the design of your car ( ergo, the amount of maintenance and repair ).
You should be able to buy a FWD/RWD car of comparable performance and utility, with higher MPG and for less than $30k. Infiniti G35 comes to mind.
I think you're overlooking the HUGE benefits of AWD for a performance car in dry conditions. AWD is not just beneficial when the roads are slick. In fact, the stock STi tires are not even driveable on slick roads, and would erase the benefit of AWD. The true benefit of AWD on a car like the STi in dry weather is enhanced grip/traction which, among other things, gives almost immediate forward motion with no slipping on acceleration.

And of course if you happen to auto-cross on a rainy day, a WRX or STi with decent tires will pretty much dominate the field.

I'm gonna take a leap and assume you are a guy.

I'm also gonna take a leap and assume you like women.

Take a look at the pics posted above of the STi and the S2k.

With all respect to the Subaru's performance, I'm takin the S to pick up my hot date.

If you have to ask, buy the other car.
