With the stiffening of the '08 suspension, I'm surprised that the handling was considered more forgiving. Obviously the balance can be tweaked a huge amount, but usually, stiffening is a step towards better track handling. So why the stiffening at all if the intent was to make the car even more tame?

I really need to read this article - maybe there's more to this "07 did better than 08" report.

Does the CR sit any lower at all, or is it simply stiffer suspension and thats it?

According to Honda, both the MY07, regular and CR MY08 cars have a height of 50.0 inches.

During Motor Trend's Track testing for the best handling cars, Angelelli stated he thought the suspension should be softer for improved handling...

One thing I noticed was the increased diameter of the front sway bar on the 08 model, 27.2 to a 26.5 on the 07. Even though the spings and dampers are marginally firmer the increaesed stiffness of the front sway bar would certainly move the bias to more understeer. Yay, Nay?

I would consider that to be softening things up a bit.

Hmm. The full quote is "He recommends softening the rear springs for track duty." I wonder what the full details are of the background of that statement?

I'm not sure. It's one of the benefits of SCCA membership, and I've never actually bought a copy.
Ahh I see. Well all you had to do was say its an SCCA member mag instead of being an asshole about it.
