You know, people keep asking about putting soft tops in CRs.

I wonder if someone savvy with plastics and vinyl couldn't design a foldable plastic "hardtop" that would fit in the trunk and be used in emergency weather situations.

Basically a tubular frame arch in the pin points by each headrest and a snap-in or zippered cloth top.
That's what I'm sayin' I just figure doing a pre-made Robbins and forgetting all the electronics would be the quickest way to go.

Get a regular one and add a hardtop.

Don't really care about the hardtop. Just trying to get an idea of the current real-word difference in price between a standard 09 and a left over '08 CR

Yep - that's what's stopping me. Already have an Exige that I have to unbolt the top from.

OTOH, if you don't mess with all the electronics and wiring, can it really be THAT hard to pull the CR crossbrace and slap a Robbins top on there for purely manual (emergency) use?
You well know that we have had no measurable amount of rain fall in the last 30 days. But we both know that if and when it does fall, it falls so hard you can't see the front of your car.

But I have been an owner here in Houston for the past 7+ years. I have been caught out in the rain a few times. At 70, there is little rain in the car.

It's really more for sun and minimal idiot deterrent when parked Wouldn't drive it in the rain anyway if it could be helped.

Then just get the cockpit cover and a proximity alarm.

I agree. this is a great solution. Cheaper, and just as secure.

I think it would be easier to take an non-CR and add the CR bits other than the rear cross brace.
