2008 CR hardtop latch rattle
the dealer will not know any more about the rattle noise fixes, than the people that check out these forums. i work at a dealer ship, and was not able to almost fully fix all my hardtop and soft top noises till i went on this website. all the dealer has is a few bullitens for rattle noise fixes or squeaky noises.
front hardtop latch rattle put spongy foam tape in between the latch and where it bolts down. on the same area as the screws for the latches but more toward the release button area. if you grab the latch, you can move it up and down slightly and it can make a noise when it does this over bumps, the foam cushions this. noise gone!
also put brake bleeder screw rubber caps over the nipple looking things on the front latches, there the nipples touch the strikers. and some felt tape where the hooks grab the stickers. on the striker side. removed 2 latch shims also before all this. all in all it helped a lot with the hardtop rattling over rough roads. where it sounded like the hardtop was loose. now it's solid. my hardtop as never been more quiet til i tried all these fixes.

The dealer was willing to replace the strikers and latches but not the hardtop. I decided not to have the parts replaced because the problem will probably just come back.
I fixed the problem myself by installing rubber tubing around the latch pins as previously mentioned on this forum. I got the rubber tubing from "Dorman Motormite 41050 Vacuum Fittings, Vacuum Caps".
