2009 S2000!
When is the model change-over to 2009? I am expecting virtually no change from the 2008's, and I believe that they will continue to make a limited number of 2009 S2000 CR's, but was curious as to when Honda changes over to 2009 production for the S2000.

Has the Miata really changed that much since it's inception? They have made evolutionary changes over time and I think Honda needs to do this too.
Also, at least they still have a sports car, unlike Toyota.

The S2K has been around a long time, but it was ahead of its time on introduction many years ago. In fact, many cars still don't have 6-spd, electric power steering, HIDs, etc. Very few cars are in this handling territory. And the engine is still among the top (if not the top) of NA engines in HP/litre. In recent years they added VSA, TPMS, XM (option) and some of the other frilly stuff new cars have nowadays. So although the S2K is going on 9 years old, I think the technology is still quite good. Other than airbags, I think it's very competitive with the market right now and still amongst the best sports cars available. I even think the styling is as great now as it was 9 years ago.
Not to be funny but when you say
are you including Camrys, Accords and F-150s? If not, and you are just speaking of the S2000's competition you are wrong. Most if not all are in the same handling territory, have 6 speeds and etc.
There will be no new S2000 IMO, but I sure hope I am wrong.

In terms of handling/suspension, I honestly don't think there are that many RWD sports cars that I would lump in the same category as the S2K. It still has a very unique suspension setup compared to almost everything else out there. The S2K in-wheel suspension geometry, and the way it interfaces with the unibody, is not that far removed from an F1 car. Very few other sports cars, aside from true exotics, have a suspension setup like this. And from that descends the handling potential.
That does bring up a question -- what do people consider to be the S2000's true competition?

120 HP/L is awesome but that was in the year 2000.
either they push the envelope in HP/L or they up the displacement a little (while keeping 120 HP/L).

its easy to write down figures on paper. "why doesnt honda just make a 2000lb 3.5l car that produces 150hp/l and cost 25,000$?"
far easier to wish and talk then to actually produce
