2009 S2000!

More or less, they have something against forced induction, which is the key to adding HP, like other vehicles have. In the long term, reliability of Honda with less true cost to own is based on the fact that their cars do have less hp and torque. I'd imagine they don't wanna compromise the reliability of their cars, especially a Civic.
The Mazdaspeed 3, and even my Mazdaspeed 6, IMO will not stand up to the test of time regarding reliability and longevity without extra costly repairs like a Honda S2000 or Civic SI. Heck, turbo seal issues are already showing up on those vehicles, along with other problems. IMO, those cars will end up becoming money pits when they get older, whereas Hondas will keep going and going.
Ultimately they choose not to enter the HP war, and in reality they don't have to , because they are one of the most successful companies in a consumer market, which is what makes the most money.

What you say makes sense. But if anybody is making a reliable high horsepower car, it should be them.
I for one would love to see Honda go FI, but they are set in their ways, and they are not gonna change IMO. Not without the need to.
Screw the HP war.
I am talking about Honda continuing their revolutionary HP/L output.
120 HP/L is awesome but that was in the year 2000.
either they push the envelope in HP/L or they up the displacement a little (while keeping 120 HP/L).
If they want us to buy a new $35k+ sports car then i expect something revolutionary. Hey and i would welcome hybrid technology if performance is not hindered. Reliability is important and HONDA proved that they lead the pack time after time.

It would be pretty cool to see a double debut: NSX and S2000.
It would also be cool if the new s2000 shared some of the lines of the new NSX.

2009 s2k is just d-um-b...
the CR is suppose to be the special and final s2k. The last and the best.
IT would've been a great way to end the life of the S.
Now .... CR 2009. that's stupid.
Meanwhile the S is falling far behind the competition.

eventhough the rdx is turbocharged i don't see honda making a f/i S model. if we look at all the S models from the 500 to 800 to 2000 they all revved high, adding a turbo to the model would be a sin.
i agree with JPH3 make something that's never been done before inline 4 or 6 that revs to 10k for a production car and you will get every S2000 owners attention and checkbook.

First of all, it appears that the S2000 will be around virtually unchanged for MY2009, and since Honda is unwilling to change Horsepower or drivetrains, it seems that they can offer different color combinations, and stereo updgrades. One color combo that I would really like to see is Red with a tan leather interior or anything except basic black.
As for a future car, it appears that they will be making the S2000 smaller and cheaper to compete with the Miata, Sky, and Solstice offerings, as $35,000 sports cars based on a 10-year design are just not moving out of dealerships. Personally I would like to see them target the Lotus Elise and build a 2,300 pound lightweight sports car of a simple design, a bit more refined than the Elise, with Honda reliability and a great Honda 4 cylinder engine. Something that can compete with the Elise on the track and can be driven everyday on the street. To me, that would be a worthy successor to the S2000.
Quite frankly, I would be happy with the current design, upgrade the car, using even lighter material components, redesign the top so that it no longer requires a boot cover, slim the door panels a bit more for 1.5 inches more shoulder room, and to me, you would have the perfect S2000..... it's not going to happen , but we can dream can't we?

i manage to drive one years ago and the 5cylinder while nice in thinking vibrated lke hell. engine nvh was very un-acura like and that's why it didn't sell to well.
honda thought the market would perfer smaller and better handling, but it backfired on them.
