A magazine in Australia (Hot Fours, Jan 01) has just run an article on a 230KW (9400RPM) Yellow S2000. It apparently belongs to the J's Racing house. According to the article the mods include:

Maxim Works 4-2-1 Extractors
J's Exhaust
J's High Lift VTEC Cams
J's enhanced ECU

If this really is the case, bring on J's Racing. I want it all. I'll post the article shortly.

I would be very doubtful if that list of improvements can gain as much as 50kw; even with another 400 rpm... must be "wild" cam profiles!

Actually 1.34 is closer to it, 176KW = 235BHP.

It's not too hard to get 50kw more power out of an engine, but making it idle at the traffic lights could be a problem.

The J's car is a race car. It's tuned for high rev'in and short life. I sure as heck don't wan this from my S.

Didn't it also have 14:1 compression ratio pistons?

230kw x 1.34 = 308.4HP!!!

I'd love to see more info.

240kw out of an S2000 is a little unbelievable.

Cams are good for a 8-13kw improvement at best, with the other mods maybe producing another 10kw. I would be a little safe to say that the power figures that J's are claiming are 'highly' inflated over actual.

I'd like to see some actual dyno sheets on this one. Now, if they turbo charged or super charged it (or even nitrous), I might begin to believe the 35% power increase, but not just from normally aspirated mods on an already HIGHLY EFFICIENT engine.

It's been seen that there are not all that many things that one can do to really raise the power figures with the S2000. Honda have already done a remarkable job of extracting the power they have from the S2000.

I don't know sime. If AusS2000 is right and this is really a race car, the it's not so hard to believe. You can get good numbers when you don't have to worry about: warranty, idle quality, drivability below 5~6Krpm, emissions, fuel economy, long term reliability. There are many race engines out there that exceed the hp/liter of that car.
