Default 245/35/16's? (Pirelli P7000's)

Just for fun, since I plan to lower the car anyway, would 245/35/16's work? they would reduce the tire heighth by 2", therefore reducing my ride height a full inch(1" top and 1" bottom), and reducing my gearing about 8%.

They make pirelli P7000's in this size, and a 215/40/16 to go right with it. Just curious if anyone else has tried this.

In the current issue of Sport Compact Car they mention about a 1"+ difference in their tire setup on the 350Z, so they like the idea.

It'd be roughly the same as using a 4.4:1 final drive, which could be interesting and much cheaper. Now if you could get these sizes in a wider variety of tires...

Just think if you got the J's gear reduction and did this with the tires....you would have to shift 4 times just to get out of your driveway.

I'm not wild about the reduced ground clearance but being much cheaper than putting in a set of rear gears sounds interesting. Do it and let us know how it feels. (You'll need a speedo correction.)

Ya, i am guessing I will have to remove my front spoiler if i do get the tires.... i need to make sure someone tells me it is safe to put them on..... the tirerack guy said it was not due to the weight rating.??? It was about 100lbs less than the S0-2's, but both were over 1100lbs.... that would mean the car would need to somehow put 85% of its weight on one side for a constant period of time to have any effect.?
