Why not keep it in the family and try to get of those Mugen/Honda
4 litre V8's that put out something like 550hp @ 9500rpm.
Imagine what that would sound like!
And from memory less than 200kg.
now THAT would be cool.

2JZ is great and all, but its heavy. And all that weight on the front end will screw up the weight distribution. That said, it would be cool to see one of these S2k-on-steroids machine demolish some high hp cars at the strip.

Spoke with Bryan, and I'll be helping them host their video/pictures for the world to see this badass car. Till then flame on about the 50/50 weight distribution, because most of ya'll have no clue about the quality of this car.

Why does everyone keep talking about weight distribution? NOBODY wanting 800+ hp gives a crap about handling - they're doing it for power and going insanely fast in a straight line.

Cool video, but that song playing - whatever it was - sucked

Get that car a single 3" exhaust and it'll pick up another 25 hp!

I have one buddy making about 720 through an auto on his Supra. And it's a 71mm car. And another looking for 850 through a 6 speed in his SC300. The Lexus has a 160K junkyard short block in it.

Those motors can make insane numbers with the stock bottom end.

EDIT: The SC has an N/A motor converted to turbo. But even then the only real difference is some compression and the oil squirters.

Thats spectacular, even though 16k would go a long way on a F20 or 22 turbo project. Wish they had some more driving footage of the car in the vid though. All in all thats a class swap.

Hey genius - no one's trying to flame the guy for doing the swap or disputing the quality of the car. But there is no free lunch - what you taketh in a highly tunable and durable motor you giveth in weight, size, handling dynamics, and most importantly character.

The car was designed from the outset to have a LIGHTweight, HIGHrevving, SMALL engine so as to befit the cars character and dynamics, and allow it to have a front mid engined configuration.

A 2Jz thats longer than the F20C, and close to 200lbs heavier does wonders to screw that up.

The car is a drag car now - once that rear end is installed of course, but the spirit of that particular S2000 has been lost. Each to his own, but as others have said, 16k would go a long way if you decide to go FI on the S2000, especially a turbo, while maintaining the character and essence of the S2000.

I'm reminded of a scene in Topgear in the test of the Z4, Boxster, and S2000 when Jeremy Clarkson shouts to Hammond and May, "You've got the wrong car" - thats exactly how I feel.
