Default 2nd gear grind in MY2001's

I know there's a TSB for 2nd gear grinds in MY2000's. I have a 2001 and am wondering if there is also TSB for 2nd gear grind for 2001's. I have a 2001 and have grinded 2nd several times. Typically at high rev shifting (like redline). I noticed that if I slow my shifting down, and really "concentrate" on depressing the clutch all the way and letting up on the throttle, then its ok. Does my shifting just suck? Or is there a TSB on teh 2001's? Or is the s2k tranny just really sensitive at high revs?

The tranny is definitely sensitive... regardless. The TSB is applicable to 2001 with low VIN's (don't know the exact number).

Try changing the tranny oil... Honda MTL works great for most people. Does not eliminate the grind but clears up most of them.

Good luck... they denied my claim (my VIN is post 5000). I guess my "buzz" isn't "buzzing" enough.

Hey guys.. sorry for the ignorance... what's a TSB?
I too have a 2001 and have noticed that I grind in 2nd... and I know it can't be my shifting.

Take it in to the dealer and ask about TSB-54 and TSB-55. They will know what you are talking about.

Not quite sure if there is a TSB on the trannies for 2001 models. I didn't recall seeing a TSB for a buzzing in 2 - 3 gears between 3000-4000RPM. I took my 2001 S2000 in and the service manager just said "Honda said for us to change your clutch disk". When they took my tranny off, turns out the flywheel and pressure plate needed to be replaced (burn marks) also. They again said, "We called Honda and they told us to put a new flywheel and pressure plate in as well". It shifts so smooth and no more buzzing and it's got a very firm grip now when the clutch engages. I also had the window fixed and also they put in some new hardtop latch to make my clicking go away on the covertible top. Latch is very solid now, no noise or clicking when I go over bumps.

I'm not sure what your VIN is, but mine ends with 00848.

I took mine in yesterday for TSB 54 and 55. They told me that 54(buzzing) would be taken care of but 55 (2nd gear grind) only applies to the year 2000. I even had both TSB's in hand when I brought the car in. He was pretty surprised that I even KNEW what a TSB was and tried to kiss my ass and thank me for being so informed. Uh huh.. sure. I'm thinking of taking it to another dealer to see if they will do it. It is pretty bad.
