2nd gear pop!
Has anyone had a problem with 2nd gear popping out. Today was the second time this happened. The car was semi cold.(running for about 3-4 mins) I was at a light, it turned green, I did a mild acceleration in first then a little more aggresive once in second(not even close the the floor), then at around 6-7 the gear either popped or the engine slowed. I'm not sure which, but this is the second time under the exact circumstances. Any suggestions.

Make sure the engine has warmed to three bars or you may be experiencing the rev limiter, it will cut off fuel if you rev too high before the engine is sufficiently warmed.

I am having the same problem. What happens to me is I will be at 6-7000 RPM in second gear and it will pop out of gear. I thought that I was pushing on the gear shift with my hand, and the other night I was driving hard with both hands on the steering wheel and it popped out. I am not sure if the car was cold or not, I do know it popped out of gear. If anyone does know why this happens please post.

Warming your engine will definately reduce the chance of the problem. Was the gear had a physical pop-out or its the fuel cut off? I experinced the fuel cut off but not Physcial pop out.

2nd gear pops out for me too. Happens a few times one after the other, then goes away, and doesn't come back for a few weeks. I'd say it has happened 15-20 times total for me in the 6 months I've had it. I'll mention it when I take my car in for it's first oil change, and the paint peeling from my bumper, but I doubt they'll look at it, since they will probably say they can not reproduce it. I've heard a couple other people having the same problem with second, everybody else that has a problem has it with 4th gear. Dunno if any of those have been resolved, perhaps it's the same problem. Here is one thread to get you started, I'm sure there are more if you do a search for 2nd or 4th gear. Some fixes have included replacing the gear, and shift fork. Good luck, let me know how it works out, I'm waiting until I reach 6500 miles to take mine in.

Well, now that I think about it a little. It very well may be the fuel getting cut off. It happens so fast(and startles the hell out of me) I always forget to check if it's in gear or not. Does anyone know why it will cut fuel supply if it's cold. Because I do not notice a consistent issue when cold. So I wonder if that is on purpose and if so, what are the paramaters for it?

You have 2 rev limiters on your car. 1 at redline, for preventing you to over rev your engine beyond 9100 RPM, the second works only when you have less than 3 bars on your temperature gauge. It will kick in at 6000 RPM, to prevent you from going into VTEC when your engine is cold and damaging it. After the engine has warmed up (i.e. 3 bars on your temperature gauge), that second rev limiter at 6000 RPM is disabled, and you are left only with the 9100 RPM limiter.
However, if you hit the rev limiter, weather it is the 6000, or 9100 RPM limiter, it will not cause the gear to pop out, you'll just have fuel cut-off.
