330 Ci vs. S2000?
Honestly, both cars arent good to take to college. Jealous people are going to dent, ding, scratch your car!
Especially if its NEW or its a "status car" i.e. S2K,BMW 330. You should get a decent car for school. You will probably find it as an inconvience when you go out with your S2K. Such as where to park your car. I already bought a beater to replace my S. My 02 GTI. It has already been towed, scratched, and backed into, but no door dings

I was considering a 330 ci when I was buying the S2000. First of all the s2000 is under $33,000. Second, getting an adequetly equiped 330ci will run you above $40k. Also, having a close relative with 4 bmw's in their garage I can safely say that the reliability of the Honda is much better than the BMW. You should also think of maintenance as well. I can honestly say that I made the right choice buying the S2000. Besides everyone drives a 3 series BMW these days. They are so common. The s2000 on the other hand is a limited production car that will always stand out in traffic. I'm not going to speak about handling and performance because we all know which car would blow the other one away

You won't get $36k out the door from a normally equiped 330Ci. Remember in 330Ci even a CD player is not standard. For 330Ci Coupe, you probably should think about $44k out of the door.
I also think the out-door price of 330Ci should be more than $36000, I had pay almost $50k for a fully loaded 328Ci convertible before.
I own the S2000 and the 330i. The S is the faster car, but if you put the Dinan chip in the 330Ci (about $400 bucks for 15 - 18HP) it will be closer. We got the Premium Package, Sports package, step-tronic tranny, in-dash cd, and tinting for $46K, that was about $500 below MSRP. Leased at MSRP for the S.
I must say, the BMW drives sooooo nicely. I love that car. I have a different kinda love for the S2000, the sound of 9Krpms with the top down is inspiring. But consider this, when I go out to the garage and look at both cars, 90% of the time I choose the S. It's just more fun. Not to take anything away from the 330, tho. You won't be disappointed with either.
If this is an option for you, the M3 is about $52-54K. Around 10K more than the 330 and 20K more than the S. That's a pretty big difference, but it'll outshine both the others, no question.

If you're going to pay that much for a 3 series, just dish out the additional money for the M3. I could not possibly ever drive a 3 series, knowing a better model exists.

True -- but you first said 328 --- now 330. Which was it?
The 330 Convertible is around 43 MSRP -- and offhand I don't think you could add enough options to break the 50k mark (maybe if you add the 3k or so hard top).
Aside from that I suppose if we are going to add tax and fees to the price we should do that to the S2000 as well --
