I just sold my Modded 325XI for an S2000. I have driven several 330cis, from stock to heavily modded....Here is my take.. First of all you can buy an S2k for way less then 36k, second, to get a 330CI with "adaquete" options you will probably be around 40k...My 325XI was over 38k and that is a 325. if yuo want comfort and a "cruiser" then go ahead and get the BMW, it is a great car. But if you want fun factor and the drop top to cruise around and pick girls up in then go for the S2000. I have owned a BMW and now an S2K..the S2000 is faster, more fun to drive and wil out handle the bmw any day of the week, but when it comes to prestige and every day driveability the bmw wins. So i guess it all depends on what you would like to do with the car. I am also a college student and i sold my bmw cause i picked up a 89 944 turbo S and couldnt afford the bmw but i can afford the S2000 and the race car, so maybe that helps you see that the S2k is cheaper to own....

i say screw both cars and get a NICE e36 M3....you get equal (if not better) performance as the S2000, plus the luxury of the e46 330Ci for less than the cost of each of them. Hell, get the e36 M3 for $26,000, then throw an Active Autowerke Turbocharger on there for $10,000 and you got yourself a 400+HP car for the cost of either of them!

Yah, I like bmw's styling in general but the Z3's and Z'4 are so so lookin for a roadster IMO. Driver sits too high, maybe better visibility but kinda looks toyish when a looking at it from the rear. Lines are choppy on the new Z4. S2k just looks cleaner with driver tucked in the cockpit and the fluid lines are more pleasing to the eye.

we own both S2k and 330cic - BMW drives like a truck to me and I am always teasing my wife, she drives it:-). Really, once you get used to our 0% fat diet then any car becomes VERY heavy no matter if it is M3 or regular #series.

Plus S is beyond the doubt the prettiest car on the market under 60k. Boy, I did not like to drive even SL500 (but THAT is nice car) because of the rolling mass...
