Sounds like Nationals at Mid Ohio...

I believe the M3 got set back a few places due to some controversy on a restart.

So S2000 was SECOND!!!!

Good to know the Mustang can go fast - its just slowing down that is the problem...

Yeh I remeber the guy driving the M3 did not slow down for a yellow flag or jumped it on the re-start and ended up with a 30-60 sec lead some how!

As I recall, the M3 was assessed a penalty because contrary to instructions in the drivers meeting before the race, he restarted on the back half of the course after the pace car pulled off instead of waiting for a full green. This gave the M a huge lead over the rest of the pack.

In a great run, a driver (Oates?) in a Camaro SS made a terrific charge to get within striking distance before his clutch blew up. The M finished firs, 'Stang second, and S third. Later on, after a rules review, the M was pushed back and the Stang was first, S second.

I also think the driver of the S (Gothard?) was able to set the second fastest lap despite being significantly down on power and engine displacement. Good driving and a well balanced car.

mid ohio, i believe.

not a long course and it didn't have too much in the way of elevation changes. it did look to have some challenging corners and one good straight away.
