Just had to say that i finally tried to launch my car for the first time today and probably set my clutch on fire. It all went so fast that i don't know what I did wrong, but my clutch smelled like ass.

I *think* what happened was that my tires never caught..so I barely went anywhere and my rpm went straight to redline...I shifted to 2nd and the rpm dropped all the way to maybe 3k and I was at about 20mph

So funny.

actually your tires caught too much. your clutch was simply slipping while you were trying to mash the gas.

this means the clutch did not engage fast enough. this can be caused by two things on your car. A. you didn't get your foot off the clutch fast enough. and this happens a lot and is easier to mess up then you might think.

B. your clutch delay valve owned you. you have an 05, have you removed the clutch delay valve? The delay valve will cause this kind of behavior too.

Wisconsin S2k - Thanks for the 411.

I'll blame most of my failure on the clutch delay valve. It doesn't bother me much when shifting at redline...but launching with it yesterday felt aweful. My clutch wouldn't fully catch. I'm going to pull the delay valve on Sunday.

I'll also try side-stepping the clutch to engage faster. Combine all that with the voodoo knob that's coming tomorrow and I'll be hitting 5.5 second 0-60's in no time!

Hope my car doesn't blow up!

[QUOTE=Wisconsin S2k,Jul 27 2006, 08:24 AM]Yes, in fact I do. During fast shifts, I never fully depress the clutch pedal.

If the tires are really warm, doubt they will chirp.

I'm running 255 rear tires on eagle F1 ds-d3s. When they warm (autox / racing / very spirited driving) up I can't even chirp 2nd even with 4.57s.

Everyone keeps commenting on "How great the shifting is" in the video.

I'm not discounting your shifting skills because you obviously can select a gear but I saw nothing spectacular about it. You have to shift fast when driving aggressively or you'll bounce off the rev limiter. You actually looked as though you were shifting a bit too hard and trying to force it in gear instead of letting it ease in there. I think your synchro's will pay the price over time if they haven't already. My brother has worn out and ruined all of his synchros in his S2000 ( since replaced) from that same style of hard and forceful shifting that doesn't allow the synchros time to catch up. I'm not hating... just posting my observations. Great videos BTW.
I also didn't see anything too amazing. Just goes to show how soft people drive their S

I used to chirp 5th in my integra (act 6 puck), chirping is just the clutch grabbing, not really a sign of big power, 5th gear wheel spin in a sign of big power.

cool video and good info

I have a competition stage 2 clutch/fw, stock 4.10s, and 245s in the rear. I actually break the rear loose on a hard 1-2 and chirp 2-3.
