nice! still considering the 4.77 tho..

if the differences between a stock FD vs the 4.57 were that great.. would the difference between the 457 vs 477 would be just as much?

4.10 and 4.57 has more than TWICE the difference between 4.57 and 4.77

I got a couple questions about the video. My car is stock and I have chirped second and I think once it might have even chirped third but I don't know if I ever experienced that "jerking" that the camera seems to show at shifts. Maybe that is that you just can't feel it from the driver seat or you don't notice it when driving agressively, but it looks like the car just slams a bit on shifts.

I would like to drive it from a dead stop launch a little tougher but all these "broke my diff" threads have me paranoid.

Is that jerking in the video just the tires chirping, or are you feeling a clunk when the next gear engages?

Ever miss and grind awith that type of driving?

That sounded nice, stock exhaust? (never mind, just saw invidia in your earlier sig)

yes i have missed and grinded. 2nd gear only. it happens if i time the 1-2 poorly. it's rare but it does happen.

the "jerking" is mostly just the car pitching from the split second stop in accelerationg. remember when you slam the gas, the back squats and the front comes up. since the camera is mounted where the wind screen is, whatever the car does, the camera will do.

so when i go to shift, that split second where the car suddenly stops accelerating as i go to the next gear cuases the car to level out for just a moment, before the back once again squats with the next gear. notice how as i shift at higher and higher speeds, the difference and "jerk" is much less? this is because of the fact that as the car gets higher and the gearing taller, the difference becomes smaller and smaller from one gear to the next.

Wisconsin. I make it up to Brookfield 7 or 8 times a year to see family. Maybee we could connect so I could test drive the 4.57 before purchase of the gears. I'm not sure these are for me since most of my driving is cruising HWY speeds at 80mph. I don't want extra noise in the cabin at this speed but do like the extra accel capability. I'm not much into Mods but this is one that seems worth the $.

why can't i ever chirp second? my car is bone stock btw!

Lots of variables, like traction, temp, tires, not to mention shifting ability...

but that said, chirping second at least in a AP1 is fairly easy...

in my car, the sound dissipates starting at 70mph. by 75mph you can barely hear it if at all.

damn, i'm getting some 4.44's for my 04 and i just realized at the end of 4th i will only be @ 91mph.

i couldn't believe it, but i just doublechecked the reverendsgarage calculator. your my02 in 4th w/ 4.57 still gets you to 103mph. dang, no 4.57's for me, and i guess i will be shifting like crazy too then. oh well.

OK, I've been reading this thread for a while so here, respectfully, is my 2 cents: Good journeyman shifting, period. I don't understand the fuss over someone being able to shift up through the gears quickly. But then my first car was 4-speed all non-synchro and since then, in 40 years of driving, I've never bought an automatic except Tiptronic. So maybe my problem (among a host of others) is that I just assume people with performance transmissions know how to shift. Anyway, if you want to impress me post video of yourself downshifting from 6 to 2 at speed, preferably with dire consequences for failure.
