my highway went down from 32mpg on long trips to about 29mpg.

my city went up, so overall, the balance went up. before, on average, i got about 22-23mpg. now I get 25-27mpg.

At 80mph you will be at 5000rpm on the freeway. FYI, this is only 500rpm over stock.
Hi Wisconsin,
you have 4.57 right?Did you get them from Rick's?
Do you have a "yellow box",or some kind of device to correct speedometer?
What are your R.P.M.at a real 60 M.P.H.?
Emil.

(Quote)that would have just continued to top speed. which is about 150-155 on an ap1 with 4.57 gears.(quote)
And ,are you sure about that top speed of 150-155?
Tought,it would have been a lot less than that;150,in most cases is the top speed of a stock AP-1.

Thanks Wisconsin, That is what I was wondering, if a stock geared s2k would pull on speeds past 100mph. Thanks for the great info.

BTW... Rick's should hire you as the offical 4.57 gear spokesman

duff, stratocaster (who runs Rick's) had a special to where you could buy a 4.57 installed by comptech along with the reinforcements for $1300.

All you have to do is swap the pumpkin and ship the old one back. He's out of gears, but hopes to get more.

Since Wisconsin has not answered, yes he got his gears from Ricks and yes he installed the yellow box to correct the speedometer. He showed it to me I think the same day he installed it.

I though that gears did not make the car faster?

Yes I know, Jeff (hardtopguy) Has an agreement with him for the install. If I would get them, Id just take out my own diff, and drive it 10 mins to Ganley Honda where Jeff is and get the new one. Its nice being so close to Ganley.

yes 4.57 from rick's

yes i have the yellow box

3600 or so at 60mph.

and yes about 150-155 depending on your tire flex and tire psi

FWIW this is the best mod you can do to the S2000 IMO, short of FI. (except that FI costs at least 6 times as much). between the better acceleration, the better gas mileage, and the increase in low end grunt in any gear, it's awesome.

Pretty sure, this is going to be my next mod.
OEM is about 3300 rpm at 60mph,so not that much difference;most of the time crusing at 70 mph at +/- 3900-4000,would then be around 4300,not much moore noise.
Is it true, that you can nearly keep up,with an SC,on standard gearing?
