the ap2 doesn't pull any harder than the ap1. they both run the same in the 1/4 mile, and for argument's sake are the same speed. anyone who says otherwise has no idea what they're talking about.
the only reason why i said that is because i raced my friend in his silver 02 all the time when we were both bone stock and talking about off the line we even roll out first gear i was ahead of him already just like that 4.57 gear video and that's stock but seriuosly i didn't have to lied about this so that's why he told me that the new ones got better gear ratios and is offically 10% faster then the old one and im sure honda wouldn't even have to do this upgrade to a 2.2 and make it 8200 i know it was odd at first compare to 9k redline but once i test drove both cars you can already tell but just don't get offended we still s2000's out there you heard lol

the F22 is not "10%" faster than the F20. they are the same, end of story, end of discussion, period.
i'm guessing here but I guess the 2.2 was introduced to deal with with 'low end issues' that so many people were complaing about? I'm driving an AP1.5 -- good ol F20C2 engine from the AP1 in an AP2 body (glass rear windows, new centre console, arcs on the dash for fuel and oil temp). Just no DBW system and VGS (thank goodness)
Anyway, from what I gather, you're right about performance being about the same. I haven't raced any so far, but specs seem to indicate that the AP2 is a less hairy drive, whatever that means

That is possibly the longest run-on sentence I've ever seen. I think the only two periods are in between 4.57 and 2.2.
