4.77 gear help
how far away are you from Cleveland? (I don't know where Bryan is). I would advise against installing them yourself... maybe the pumpkin, but not the actual gear... too many things that could go wrong...
there are many people that have had them in for a few years without any problems... (i asked around and did a lot of research before deciding on getting gears so I know where you are coming from

I have the Kia 4.77 gears installed on my car, and I love them. Just put a 1300 miles on them in the past 2 weeks. I decided to go with the Kia gears because there an OEM part which I figured would be stronger than some other 4.77 gears out there.
Pack up a lunch, grab a few cans of Coke and head out east for a day.. it'll be worth your while and peace of mind to have a professional put it in with some s2000 knowledge.. just my $.02..
um... driven long distance....well...
Cleveland to Toronto
Cleveland to North Carolina
Cleveland to Philadelphia
Gas mileage? what I noticed was 1 gallon of gas difference compared to my wife's car ('00 Ap1).

Hour West of Toledo, isnt that like Ft Wayne. I lived in Defiance for awhile where do you live at. As far as 4.77 I have them, love them, and I will vouch for Hardtopguy- he even talked to my installers for me.
I've had mine for about 40k miles. Should be hitting 90k miles next week or so.
No noticiable wear from dif flush. Engine still running very strong.
Gained 1mpg since installation. Be sure to get your yellow box.

I paid 500 for install but I got a whole new comptech diff put in plus brand new bearing and what not for the gears. I was quoted like 350 at first, but then I went ahead and got the new install stuff. I know where bryan is I know some people up there one goes to Ohio State- and the pepples. Anyways I think you should be able to get it done in Ft. Wayne or in Toledo for around 250-400 depending on the shop and what all you need done. If you can drop the diff yourself, it could save you some money and then just take it to the shop have them install and put the diff back on. I would have done it all myself, but Jeff ( hardtopguy) insisted that it should be done by a "trained" person.
