I would go with 4.57... I think the 4.77 qwould be too low.

How do the 4.77s affect gas milage?

Will they make the rear more reliable?
Yes, gas mileage will be worse.

No, it won't make the rear any more reliable unless you cryo-treat everything when the diff is apart.

I believe Wortham said that he was about 5000 rpm at 80 mph once... I'm pretty sure he has the 4.77 gears.

Gas mileage will not be noticably different from what I have heard from members who have installed the gears in their s2ks. Im sure it will be worse, but doubt that I will notice it.

Here's how to find out the rpm with 4.77 gears at 80 mph. For those with a PS2 and GT3, buy a S2000 and the full racing transmission. Change the final drive to 4.77. Go to the test course. Go up to 80 mph and check your tach

for some reason, when i take my s to the test course, my S2000 actually gets SLOWER when i change the rear end ratio to a higher #(4.10->4.57, then to 4.77). it doesnt make any sense. so the GT3 thing mgiht not be the best bet

all of these questions i.e. quarter mile time (Italian Buckwheat said he was getting in 13s..I think), differences between 4.77 and 4.57, etc have all been answered in previous threads. This topic has been debated for a while now.
You are correct, and I remember reading them before. However, seach is so borked that finding them is near impossible.

(the above is really my lazy ass way of getting someone else to post the links to those threads)

Wouldn't the RPM just be (4.77/4.1)*RPM(with the 4.1)?
On the stock MY04, 80 mph comes at about 4,200 in 6th gear. So I think it should go up close to 4,900.
Tonino (I'm new here).

Qucik question... i wanted to get 4.77 gears but can you change the 6th gear. Ive heard of people complain that on 6th gear that with 4.77 gears it would rev to high. since i rarely go over 120, cant i just have the stronger gears 1-5 and then have 6th with the honda factory gear. Thanks

Its possible, but not at any reasonable price. I don't think anyone makes different sized individiul gears for the s2000's transmission. you would have to get a shop to fabricate a new sixth gear for you. Major bucks, Major pain in the ass.
