4.77 with a open dif
no, i dont plan on drifting the car. i would rather abuse another car if i wanted to drift.
from what i read, some people said the open dif with 4.77 is pretty good. so im just debating if i should go with that setup or not. though it doesnt really matter to me if i have a lsd or not cause the car will be going into storage soon and i was planning on building my stock lsd. but im still thinking.
thanks for the input! i appreciate it.

4.77s rock. Buy them.
If so, please explain why; I don't understand what could be gained.
At first I thought an "open diff" was where you could actually see the gears.
Anyway..
IMO Honda used the Torsen for a very good reason : to get the power down.
What is one smokin' inside wheel going to do in a turn?
Smoke.
Not push you forward.
Using the 4.77 final drive will make it even easier for the engine to spin one wheel when it looses traction.

On open diff?
Well...the ring gear bolts to the torsen unit so unless you have a non lsd diff of some sort on hand, you just cant just remove it, and have an "open diff".
There may be something out there from some other application that would work.
Personally, I would have to ask why?

I still want to see a thread or Web site where the OP got this "advice" from.
I wonder if this is similar to the case where the woman came into Autozone looking for a rack and penguin.
Ask yourself this: why do you want a 4.77 final drive to begin with?
An open differential may be safer for an inexperienced driver, but it will reduce the capability of the car, both in terms of high performance driving and in terms of traction on slippery surfaces.

i read a post on here about someone using a open dif for track.
i found a good deal on a j's racing lsd, so instead of rebuilding my stock lsd im gonna go aftermarket. so im guessing this combo would be pretty good from what i've read.
anyway, thanks for the input.
