Default 4.77's and highway commute?

do you guys think that 4.77 is too much rear for the s2k on the highway? does anybody have the gear ratios for each gear so I can plug them into my formula to calculate what RPM I will be at at what speed, thanks so much.

If possible, how many are daily driving with 4.77's???

I was at 4000-5000 in my turbo integra on the highway with a 4.40 diff. and a 7000 rpm redline.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Corey

You'll be at about 5000 at 80 mph. It takes a little getting used to but it's not bad.

Drive around in 5th gear on the highway, that will be like having 4.77's in the rear.

It's not the same as 5th gear. 5th gear is 200 rpms higher than 6th would be with 4.77s. Here's what you do: drive your normal highway speed in 5th gear (mine is 75mph). Note your RPM while you are at this speed. Now, still in 5th gear, go a little slower so that your rpms are 200 rpms lower than they are at your normal cruising speed. This is what it will sound like when you're in 6th at your normal cruising speed.

so in essence...
5th with 4.1 actually is worse than 6th with 4.77 by 200 rpms.

For the one week i had my 4.77, freeway driving was fine. And i drive 70 miles round trip to work and back.

If it were up to me, i would not have switched back to stock. But i got a bad install and had nothing but problems. - if your in so cal, do not go to ramjet

this is why I went with the 4.57 gearset. on the freeway, you're only about 400-500rpm over stock.

another thing I was wondering, do you think you could just replace the stock honda bolts on the diff caps with ARP's and it would help? what exactly is failing in there?
