that would help a little, but you'd also want the thicker bearing caps. they flex under heavy load.

Drive around in 5th gear on the highway, that will be like having 4.77's in the rear.

I think that's more like having 4.625's in

thanks for the input everybody.

I'm leaning towards the comptech reenforced diff housing, but I dont like the fact you need to do a core exchange to get the price down, I dont want to have my car off the road for the amount of time it takes, I might just go with some arp bolts or studs and see what happens.

high strength studs might help, but that doesn't encompass the entire reinforcement process. Many people are running new gears without the comptech reinforced diff with out a problem though, so I think you should be ok.

I've got 4.77's and drive on the highway 3 days per week. If you keep it under 80, they really won't seem to be winding out too much. Speed limit in Chicago area is only 55, so going much faster than 75 probably isn't too swift.

But, the biggest difference is around town driving. Its night and day from stock. Also, I had 4.44's prior and its night and day from that as well. If you've ever been in a car with 4.77's you would know it. Not sure if the same can be said for the other gears.

But, if you are doing mostly highway driving, I would opt for the 4.56.

I don't see how this solves anything. You would top out at 130 in sixth and only 105 in 5th. That would suck big time.

Compare that to top speed of around 143 in sixth and 120 in 5th for an AP1.

He said tranny, not car.
The last two gears are longer(5th and 6th), meaning lower rpm's on the freeway with 4.77's in an AP1.
