Is 47.7 miles acceptable On 04 S!
I seem to recall a few weeks back some clown who worked for a Honda dealer in Central California somewhere, took a brand new 2004 White S2000 out for a joyride.
He posted his exploits on the Internet, boasting of how he redlined the car among other things.
Well, the outrage in this web site was staggering. In fact, it was one of the few times(perhaps the only time) where nearly everyone in here was in agreement.
I think the guy ended up losing his job, primarily from the outrage from this very site.
Here is the problem I am having. Some of those very people who were wetting their pants over some guy abusing a brand new car, are the same people who are now willing to overlook the very same behavior they railed against a few weeks ago.
I must be missing something.

I remember reading it also.
Me too! Go stand outside the dealership and yell stuff at them. Don't know if it'll get you a better price or not, but it sure sounds like fun!

I like the heckle suggestion.

I bought my car with 6 miles on the odo (If I can recall). Didn't VTEC until 750 miles, kept the original oil in the car until 5000 miles, have used synthetic oil ever since (4 changes since the Castrol Syntec) and have 18,500 on my '02 odometer. The car burns maybe one mark between oil changes which is remarkable.
The point? It could very well have performed the same had the car been delivered with 47 miles on the odo ('cept for the VTEC 'cause you don't really know the history).
If you know the car wasn't delivered from ANOTHER dealership, chances are it was demo'd and I'd have to think probably aggressively.
None of us can tell you the result of such use down the road...no one.
The only thing that matters is this. What do YOU think? My thought is if you weren't blown away enough to buy it on the spot, you probably ought to skip it and sleep better at night. If you buy it with those miles and down the road, you need engine warranty work of some kind, you'll beat yourself up thinking it was because of those 47 miles.
Peace of mind, to me, is worth the wait. I'd skip it.

Bought with 282 miles on it. No problems then, no problems now. Incidently, I purchased my '88 CRX Si with 68 miles on it and didn't really follow the breakin procedure and the motor was a strong and solid as ever 12 years later with 134K on the odo. Drive the car, if all seems fine, don't worry about it.
