5 Reasons You'd Sell Your S2000

The first three choices really seem to fall under the same line of reasoning if you ask me.
Financial Hardship or Obligation
In an extreme case, sure. I think anyone would sell their car to cover the costs of something like their home/rent, medical bills, food, etc. Makes no sense to keep a car if it means you lose something more important.
House > S2000
Again, this sort of goes hand in hand with the first one. Makes no sense to keep the car if you lose the house. You can always buy another S2000 later on when you get back on your feet. Trying to get another house, not so easy if you end up going bankrupt.
Kids
See above. Let me clarify though: I would only sell the car if it meant I had to do it to get money to keep kids fed/clothed/healthy. I wouldn't get rid of it in the sense that I'd buy a bigger car instead--I would buy a bigger car in addition to the S2000. I'd drive a crappy 90s Accord for next to no cost + keep the S2000, long before I'll sell the S2000 to pay for a new family hauler.
Wife/Significant Other
Nope. I'd never be with someone who made me choose between my car and them. Luckily I've already got that covered in life
Other (post up)!
The only reason outside of a true financial hardship/risk to myself or my family's well-being would be to buy whatever sports car is next for me. I have said time and time again that I will always own a sports car in life. I may add something else on the side, but I won't go without a fun car. (Maybe temporarily if I had to free up cash, but as soon as I had the means I'd buy another)
Good post. Made me think.

Other...
I am typically one that keeps a car until it is too painful to keep financially... Once the car becomes a money pit, it's on it's way out...
Keeping cars until they become money pits does have the unfortunate consequence of leaving almost no resale value in the car...

I'm with darcy on this one. I love the characteristics of the S2000, not my particular car itself. Nick is right, I'd probably go that route and try to get into a nicer lower mileage s2k. 2008 and up preferably.

Already have the wife and the house. No plans for kids. It would take an extreme financial hardship (although I'd probably sell the Porsche first - it's much more expensive to own/maintain), or just completely losing interest in favor of another car. Hasn't happened yet,and it's been 12 years.

My reason for selling the S was parking. I didn't want to street park it when we moved to a house with a 1 car garage. Then I decided the S could be my only car so I bought another one, then I decided to buy a Corvette so I sold that one, then I decided I liked having an S around still, so I bought another one...
Don't worry I rented a spot in a private garage a 10-15 minute walk from home

Age.
Not mine , the car's.
We're targeting getting a decade out of our DD's; hopefully in the next couple of days my Boxster shows up and my wife drives the S2000 for three years. Sometime in the summer of 2017, we'll be selling the S, at this rate it will have around 71K miles. It should still be fine, but I just don't want to trust a car with a lot of years under its belt as a DD.
