only get your oil changed. dont do a "7500 mile service". it's just a rip off from the dealership.

and don't change to synthetic yet. wait til 10k.

This is what you get for over $100. all completely useless except the oil change.

7,500 mi/12,000 km
Replace engine oil and filter.
Inspect front and rear brakes.
Check tire inflation and condition.
Inspect tie rod ends, steering gear box and boots.
Inspect suspension components.
Inspect driveshaft boots.

And FYI, the majority of the techs won't even actually do the inspections. The service writers simply charge for it, and if the tech does it he does it. It's literally a VISUAL inspection of the underside of the car that takes about 20 seconds. Not to mention that the chances of anything being wrong with any of this is HIGHLY unlikely after a mere 7500 miles.

What oil should I run before I change to synthetic @ 10K miles. I plan to buy an 05-06 in the future. I will probably change the oil after 1000 miles and then once every 3000 miles afterwards. Just curious to know what non synthetic they are using.

Do not change the factory oil in your new car before maybe 5k unless you are going to add mrmoly break-in addatives or something to that effect. the factory oil has a high moly count which is very critical in helping keep your engine cool and smooth the surfaces inside the engine. if you change it out too soon and don't put in a moly addative, you'll likely shorten the life of your engine. the engine runs it's hottest during breakin period. moreso than any other time under normal conditions the entire life of the engine.

as for what oil to use, read this here, from the oil journals on s2ki:
http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=169852

and here's the rest of the oil journals:
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=195574

the reason you do not use synthetic before 10k, is because synthetic may not work properly/efficiently on our FRM cylinder walls. (they take much longer to wear-in/break-in than the rest of the engine) doubtful it would cause immediate damage, but can shorten the life of the engine.

Also, changing your oil every 3000 miles is a waste of resources and your money. Even conventional oil can wait a good 5k. A decent synthetic can take you to 7500+.
