Default about to buy a car from out of state

I'm about to buy an s2000 from out of state so I couldn't check it out in person obviously. However, I've exchanged lots of pictures and service records with this seller and I'm pretty set on buying this car. However, I just wanted to make sure for the last time because I'm not sure about the engine bay area. I've attached a picture here so can anyone tell me if there is even a minor thing different from a completely stock s2000 engine bay? (besides the cone filter of course)

thanks a lot

Air box cover missing, sound system installed/removed wires still there, cooling plate installed, brake fluid really dirty, overall the engine bay looks dirty. Looks like the owner didn't take care of the car that much. Looks it was either hit or repainted on the passenger side. Also the cruise control module is either missing or relocated somewhere else, the plug seems to be still there. The coolant resevior tank has a hole and crack on the side. looks like the shocks/springs were removed/re-installed too. The vtec seloniod cover rusted and it also seems to be leaking oil (common problem in high mileage s2ks's). Looks like it had strut bar installed at one time and then removed (paint chipping around the shock/strut area).

Overall it seems that the owner dissected this poor s2k, I wouldn't buy it....

That was a detailed observation for sure! Personally, I would want only 100% stock examples. Too many S2K's are beat to death and when someone starts tinkering, who knows what's going on with the car...

Totally agree if I was laying down thousands of dollars for an S2000. If I actually wanted a modded, or formerly modded car - only then if I knew the car AND the owner.

There are inspection services for these situations.

Also keep in mind that just because a car is stock at the moment it doesn't mean it was stock all of its life. There are plenty of s2000's that were once modified then parted out and sold as stock/original cars.

Which based on the very observant things reported in this thread, this car is an example of that. This looks like a car that had many mods, and was put back to stock for resale.
