Default Above 5k during break in period

The recommendations for the break in period is to keep the revs below 5k. How many of you kept to that to the letter? What negative or long term affect might it have on teh engine to do an occasional 6k or 7k burst entering onto a busy highway. No sustained above 5k runs, but the short above 5k burst that seems almost impossible to avoid.

I get the feeling "someone" revved too high during the break-in period. Seriously, having a car like this just makes you want to rev it up and go fast. I don't believe anything serious can happen for the occaissional mistaken lead foot. Just make sure it isn't too often or some of the moving parts may not seat well.

Most folks have a few incursions into VTEC before their supposed to.....but it's not a good practice. The reason to keep RPM's low and varied is to assure proper seating of the rings and wear in of other components (i.e. gears in trans, dif,oil pump, etc.). Folks that do it a lot find the car, which already burns oil, will burn it for a longer period of time. The bottom ring is the oil skirt ring and proper sealing here is critical.

Not to be picky, but I believe it's 5.5K RPM or below during the break-in period.

Be mindful NOT to go into vtec but don't get all paranoid if you do. Enjoy!

I just made sure I didn't go into VTEC during the break in period. I didn't really pay attention to how far up I took the RPMs. I just made sure I varied them while driving.

why?
6th at 5500 is 105 mph...
just takes a little longer to get there and the music's not quite as nice.
my 2 cents: wait and break it in right, then jump on it as hard as you want after its broken in!
