This is a non-scientific poll based purely on anecdotal evidence supplied by members and guests of this forum. That being said, I'm curious to see stats on people that have had "single vehicle accidents" in an S2000 and how old they are. Please be honest and vote if you've spun, crashed, flipped, etc. an S and there were no other cars involved, thanks. Please do not vote unless your mishap occurred on a public street; track accidents/spins are not what I'm after here.

I've spun on the track (w/o contact) a few times, but I doubt that's what you're after.

Quite right monkeymaker, I'll edit to make the proper adjustment.

Is this another excuse to blame the younger guys for increasing rates, etc?

Not assessing blame for anything, just trying to get some factual data on what age group crashes most. I really just want to see if insurance companies have any right to charge young drivers so much $, not that I would ever defend the actions of an insurance company!!!

There was an interesting psychological experiment a while back using a modified Atari arcade drive simulator. Typical adults were compared to seniors and to college students with 3 ozs. of alcohol in them. There were the same number of "accidents" among the three groups. Seniors and drunk college students just drove slower.

On the other hand, fast and drunk in an S2K seems right to me. Add a little snow and ice for excitement. Yahoo!

I hate insurance companies (until I need to file a claim) as much as the next guy, but I gotta say that they are justified charging more to cover young drivers. The fact is that less experience means greater risk, period.

The companies that charge youngsters those super-duper extra hella ridiculously high rates probably aren't justified however. It's absurd to me how some of these kids (or their parents) have to pay nearly as much to insure the car as to own it. They might as well just buy two S2Ks so they have a spare in case they do crash!
