There's another interesting "feel good" point I left out of my first reply:

The S2000 feels very similar to a motorcycle.

You get that same pull during acceleratoin that you don't find w/other performance cars/engines.

When I test drove an NSX, I found it to be so civilized it was boring--where was the grin?

When I got back into my S, I smiled big again!

Randy

I still want a V8 sound sample triggered by the accelerator in an electric car...

I had to choose between the Boxster S and the S2000. I choose the latter. Not because of price but because they did exactly the same thing, same acceleration and speed etc but the Honda gave me a huge smiley factor. I can't help but keep reving the engine. I do however know that the big V8's will outlive my honda though. They are relaxed most of the time doing 2-3000 rpm and my engine is doing 9000 rpm. It is a matter of time and physics when the engine blows and this will be much sooner than a big V8.

Just my $0.02

I am a fan of big displacement big hp engines

My 01 Mustang Cobra actually got much better gas mileage than i'm getting on my current S2000. I was able to average 13-15mpg in the city, and 31mph on the highway with cruise control. At 80mph, in 5th gear, it was only pulling 2200rpms! That's a 4.6 litre DOHC 32 valve V8. OTOH, my S2000 has a 2.0 litre DOHC 16 valve motor, and i'm only getting 15mpg in the city, and about 22mpg on the highway. The S2000 is also 600lbs lighter than the Cobra was too, although it would rape the Cobra in Handling. By comparison, it's turning a lot higher rpms at any given cruising speed, which may even result in a negative impact to it's durability.
