Have you considered a MazdaSpeed Miata? They are more connected feeling than S2000 (I own both) and definitely more forgiving at the limits. The build quality of Miata vs Honda not the same, but a lower mileage 2004-2005 will run you $10,000-14000. The Velocity Red with red sticking in the interior is beautiful combo. Has way more power than stock Miata and much sharper handling.

I currently own a 2006 Mazda Miata/MX5, wonderful car, I would just like a little more power. I really want the White/Red color combination . I think, in 2004 Honda went to the 2.2 and lowered the redline from 9k to 8k. I have never driven and AP2, but I know that a lot of the fun of driving the AP1 was the 9k redline. I grew up on sport bikes, I love the high rpm capability. I have founds lots of AP2 for sale but not many AP1 in the color combination I would like.. Does anyone have any advice or things I need to look for.

Thank you,

Trey
I've owned both an 01 ap1 and 06 ap2. If its going to be a daily, go for an AP2. If its just a weekend cruiser/track car I would say go for an AP1 unless you really want the VSA from the 06. Personally I think the AP1 is more raw and fun but AP2 is more comfortable and VSA is nice for a dd. Just my $.02

Agreed with NFR-S2k-. I had a 2000 AP1 and now own a 2005 AP2. I had driven an AP2 before, but only a couple of miles. When I brought my AP2 home on the 70 mile trip, I was surprised by how much more smooth and comfortable the ride was compared to my AP1. There's no better way to put it than saying the AP1 is more raw and like a sports car. 8k redline is still great, but 9k is a blast.

The GPW w/Red interior option is going to be very hard to find as it was estimated that only 327 of them were made in the 02 AP1 model. My advice would be to find a secondary color combo you would like and keep both in mind.

Good Morning All,

I just "pulled the trigger" and purchased a white/tan 2003 with less than 40k miles.Overall very clean, but I have a few questions. The shift knob, when completely tight is not lined up properly. The numbers are crooked. The 12 volt DC plug comes out of the little panel it is mounted in, behind the drivers elbow,

!. Do you think the shift Knob is the problem or the post to the transmission?

2. Could I just glue the socket so it does not slide out of the housing, the charger works, but the entire housing slides out of the panel it is mounted in.

Thanks,

Trey

The shift knob should have an adjustment nut installed first, it allows for fine adjustments. Do you see a nut under the shift knob?
