Also, be careful and make sure the tires are warmed up before you go zipping around any corners or your back end may slide out prematurely.

Very good point. Everyone forgets about warming the tires.

How does that work? How does it help to seat the rings? I've never heard that before, but it sound reasonable and I am curious.

I believe the idea is that it gives the rings all the machining benefit of mating against the cylinder walls in the correct rpm range without the violence of combustion under load.

How fast is 5500 rpms in 6th? I can't remember, but it seems like you'd be going pretty fast...

RE: 5500 RPMs in 6th Gear, that is the FASTEST you should ever go when breaking in. I am not advocating breaking the law,.... only saying to limit your RPMs to 5500 in any gear.

i haven't been doing that in 6th gear, but i've been ramping up my "imaginary" rev limiter to 5k since i got the car. i'm at 600 some odd miles now, but haven't VTECed yet. i have read that giving it about 50% throttle in a high gear for about 2-3 seconds occasionally is beneificial to break-in.

in any case, i did the same thing with my first S2000, and it ran strong. never got it on a dyno though.
