Default Advice on door dings. Please chime in!

Recently i've been noticing these 1 inch long dings on my left fender along with a scrape where the ding is taking off the paint, leaving a white residue (most likely paint from the persons car door). They're being caused by my "neighbors" work truck, who i believe isn't even a tenant at my apartment building. I counted atleast 9 of these dings on my fender, and its getting ugly. My car is pristine (or was before these dings) and i baby my car and i'd like to keep my car looking nice. How should i proceed about this situation? I'm about to leave a note right now on his truck about it. But what about getting these ugly dings/scrapes fixed? Any legal advice? Can they be fixed by myself and look like it never happened? Thanks

search around for a painless dent repair person in your area. check the local forums and the local high end car dealer ships. it wont be cheap but most likely they can make it so you'd never know the dents were there

as far as legal action i have no idea

Okay, so the dents could be removed by paintless dent removal, but what about the scrapes? I don't think I can buff that off can I? Will insurance cover any of this?

When you find a good PDR guy, see what he says. He should have experience in it and seeing it in person makes it a lot easier to evaluate.

Can you not park somewhere else or do you have an assigned parking spot?? Hell after the first dent i would have acted. I would stick a giant poster board on your car that says "DO NOT HIT MY CAR WITH YOUR DOOR!!!" I never trust parking beside anyone!!! Anywhere i got i park like forever away!!

I know keying a car can be a felony if repair costs exceed about 1k (different for different states) and is considered malice of intent. Difference is if he is doing it intentionally or not...but first you will need solid evidence that it is actually him before you can do anything.

Unfortunately we do have assigned parking spaces. I try to park as far to the right in my parking spot as I can to avoid getting dings on my car and also trying to make it easier for him to climb in and out of his truck through the passenger door. Sucks he isn't considerate enough to be careful getting in and out. People these days right?

Short of parking elsewhere maybe something like this product would help. There are other ideas within the same site as well.

if you are sure that your paint has been removed then nothing you can do about that other than touch-up paint. if his door is leaving his paint on your car, lacquer thinner on a shop towel will take it off in one swipe. the thinner will dry almost instantly and will not affect your paint. paint-less dent repair for the dents...unless the former has happened and sometimes those guys will not pop out dents with missing paint fearing that will make the paint chips worse.

can't help you on the legal matter. if you can get pictures of marks on his truck that line up with dents on your car, you might have a little hope.
