No I have nothing against buying new....but with all the cars that were offered as suggestions, my opinion is that you could do one better buying used....here are the two instances:

The RSX type S.....I think the driving feel is much better in a Prelude than this car....maybe a Type R would fit the bill better. Plus skitzo wanted something that was a bit more unique...seeing that this is a very new car, the aftermarket on this is just not there, yet. Whereas the Prelude has a decent aftermarket following to customize the car to his wishes.

The Suburu WRX...I'm still trying to warm up to the headlights. I personally like the 2.5 RS with the old WRC body style. Throwing a turbo on it would give the RS a higher output than the WRX.

A new Acura anything type S (read TL, CL, etc) is just disappointing to me in driving performance...I can't get over the performance perspective with the luxury feel to it. <----An IS300 better fits the bill for this classification.

New car, value-wise with a performance perspective and all year round drivability, I suggest a Mazda Protege5, WRX (although I prefer a RS), Toyota Celica GT-s, IS300, and that's probably it.

Just a question....not really liking the IS300, I never investigated fully, but isn't it only available in automatic?

That would immediately take it out of the running for me.

Well, a WRX with an exhaust, a VF22 turbo upgrade, and a TEC II just did 0-60 in 4.4 seconds and 1/4 in 12.8.

STAY AWAY FROM THE TOYOTA CELICA! That car is PURE garbage. The engine sounds like crap, very plasticky and low-qual. The WRX is the way to go. However, IF you can wait till January, there is a very STRONG likelihood that the Mitsu Lancer EVO will make it here. That car is relatively attractive and will have exceptional performance.

Six-speed IS300s are supposed to land at Lexus dealers next month.

But yeah, I agree, the WRX with mods can become untouchable!!!
Nah, if you're going to start with a 2.5, you have to make it into a monster. It is definitely the best engine to start with for big hp simply because of the displacement.

This is what I'm talking about:

I hate to pop your bubbles but Skitzo did say he has a $32,000.00 ceiling. Many of you have him into a WRX with MODS! This car costs $35,000.00 Cdn. and that doesn't include frt. & pdi. By the time he does all these wonderful mods, he may as well keep the S2K, buy himself a utility trailer to pull behind the S and STILL be ahead of what you want him to do. An IS300, with a 6 sp. will be over $41,000.00. Think Cdn. $ and be realistic. Besides, as someone already stated about the looks of the WRX - power, speed, acceleration does NOT (at least for me) make up for odd looking. After a whole bunch of time goes by, even odd starts to become mundane. At least with the S, even after many years, I think it'll still look stunning.
