If waiting doesn't get the ECU to "learn" ........................................

1. Ensuring your MAP sensor is well secured and terminals not corroded. Consider the Honda "zip tie" solution.
2. Maybe try a new MAP sensor. The S2000 MAP sensor has been proven (by Ultimate Lurker) to be quite variable in quality and performance.
3. Check basic things like air filter and spark plug condition.
4. Check and if necessary, adjust the slack in the throttle cable up to spec.
5. Consider the possibility of a bad batch of gasoline.
6. If all else fails, rest the ECU.

If needed, how do I reset the ECU step by step?

OEM battery is 25lb.

I've had an Odyssey PC680 for over a year in a nice warm climate and had no cranking problems.

Why do you want to do it?

Not many steps to it .....................
1. With ignition off, pull out the BACK UP fuse.
2. Wait at least 10 seconds and put it back.

ps. To find the BACK UP fuse look at the legend on your kick panel.
pps. Unless you have a real reason to do it, resetting the ECU is unwarranted and puts all the settings to default. Your ECU will have to learn everything from day 1, all over again.

Replacing a battery will likely reset the ECU and cause you to lose your radio memory. You will need the radio code to make it work again. You can sidestep this by inputting a power sourse into the accessory plug with the ignition to the ACC position.

And have suffered from some really shitty performance issues lately.
I have an Optima Yellow Top in my wife's Civic. We've had it for about a year and have had zero problems. However, I have heard stories of other people having problems.

It's not your electrical system that's causing this. It's your ECU having a brain fart when conditions change. Give it a chance to learn without you using the gas to "help" it when it dips down like that. If it doesn't learn after a few episodes then start looking for fixes. And the fix won't be a new battery.
Isn't there an idle learn procedure for the ECU?
