Default Aftermarket battery recommendations

I am looking to replace my oem battery but dont' know which is a good battery to purchase? I went to Sam's club to look at Optimas but the ones they had seemed too big for the compartment. DOes anyone have any suggestions? Should I get yellow top or red top? Thanks!

Edwin

Nothing wrong with Sears Diehard or Interstate - reasonable prices, too. Optimas get a lot of marketing and tend to be really good on paper and for a few owners. In reality, I've seen just way too many posts here saying that Optimas just aren't as good as the hype would make them sound. There is a correct size for our car and if you really must have one, keep your fingers crossed. For the price of one Optima, you could buy 2 or 3 of the others on sale.

IIRC Optima have also discontinued making the 51 size battery for our car too (from what I have read on these forums)

Dont forget about Hawker Odyssey Dry cell batteries. The pc925 is the one to have!!! I have one and it has been an awesome battery!!! Good price too, about $100. They are deep cycle and have a way better rap sheet than the Optima batteries. Optima discontinued the 51 due to too many being DOA or not holding up for longer than a month!!!

Thanks! I think I might go with Hawker. Is it 925/925T/925MLJ/925MJ? Thanks!

OEM is expensive...
Optima is expensive and unnecesary.
I would only get an Optima if you have a stereo or the need for a sealed battery.
Odyssey makes several options... PC680 is the one most want. It weighs apx 14lbs, and is 2" by 7". Smaller, lighter, sealed and worth the $100. wouldn't use this in a frigid climate or in a car w/ stereo or other aftermarket electronics.
Odyssey and Hawker make other worth while batteries depending on your needs....
IMO
