I am looking to replace my oem battery but dont' know which is a good battery to purchase? I went to Sam's club to look at Optimas but the ones they had seemed too big for the compartment. DOes anyone have any suggestions? Should I get yellow top or red top? Thanks!

Edwin
Your OEM battery lasted 5 years which is very long time, I would buy standard battery size 51 at Sam's club and that is the lowest cost battery for you. Any fancy battery, such as Odyssey or Optima, costs more than twice but it may not lasted twice as long.

See, I originally bought the PC680 and it went bad on me because it did not have enough current to start the car in cold weather. Along with my stereo, it drained the battery constantly.....So I got upgraded for free to the 925, which fits in the cradle on its side perfectly!!! It has much much more cranking power and standby time!!!

We must stop answering the same questions over and over again. We have to teach users to use the "search" capability. As crappy as the "search" is on this board, it still works basically and you can still find a lot of useful information from the previous discussions on the same subject.

Having said all that, unfortunately in the US (I don't know about Canada), the "OEM replacement" battery from Honda is NOT the same as the OEM battery that came with the car from the factory. The battery from the factory was made by Panasonic, but in the US (at least the Honda dealers around me) the replacement is made by Interstate. So I don't know if the "OEM replacement" will work as well as the original from the factory. My original Panasonic battery lasted 6 years, and I did replace it with an "OEM replacement".

The other myth is that OEM batteries are "expensive", that is not always true. You should compare prices before you dismiss the Honda battery. In my case, the Honda battery was no more expensive than a DieHard from Sears, but it had better specs (warranty and CCA). So compare before you buy. But if you only care about price, then you can buy any battery you want, such as WalMart, CostCo, and so on.

As someone else said, there are only a few battery manufacturers in this world, so all the batteries are made by these same manufacturers. The only difference is how well the seller stands behind his product. Good luck.

OEM quoted to me was over $120! And yes, it is just a relabeled name brand. The factory Panasonic, I have no idea where you would get that... find a Panasonic dealer I guess

If you just need a replacement battery, I would just go to Walmart. For $35 bucks you'll be good to go.

If you want a light weight, no frills battery just to "start" your car, go w/ the PC680
Although as I said above, DO NOT use it if you plan on running aftermarket accesories. i.e. stereo, amps, lights, etc...
They also don't have the reserve capacity to hold a good charge in really cold climates. So if you live too far North, you may want to reconsider.

If you want a deep cycle that's sealed, go with a Hawker/Odyssey or the Optima. Great for starting, great for stereo systems, great for strapping on any BS that takes power from your battery...

Wow. Looking at my receipt, it is $85.88 (CDN) for part #31500-SH1-C01JB Battery 51-410CCA

Either I was given an inferior battery or you dealer is ripping you off.
