Default Air from A/C stinks!

My S has a "bad odor" problem, the when I turn on the A/C, I beleive it is due to the humidity, but there is got to be a way to fix it....anybody has any ideas how to fix it. I have used Fabreeze, Odor-be-gone...and nothing....it comes back after a couple of days....X

You need a product specifically designed to clean, de-odorize and disinfect auto air conditioning systems. Go to an autoparts store, not your supermarket.

dunno if this will help, but this could solve some odor issues. A lot of people who use the AC while driving tend turn it off when they turn their car off(when you've reached your destination). And when you turn on your air again, it smells, fan or otherwise. And ive heard that the AC stuff(what smells) if kept in there will eat up your filter, so whenever i have my AC on, i switch it to the fan to blow out all that cold air and AC stuff before i turn off my car(to get it all out) and i havent had an odor problem since.

You can use deoderants to cover the smell, but I would want to find the cause of the stink, rather than just cover it up. Maybe you've got some stagnent water or water and vegetation and other debris in the intake vents under the hood near the windshield. I've had older cars where this crap would probably qualify as a mobile biological weapons laboratory, breeding mosquitoes, bacteria and fungi as I roamed the highways of the homeland ... and all for no extra charge.

Haven't we got a cabin air filter on the S. Maybe it has gotten wet and is now growing some undesirable wild-life.

You can use a product made for it, or do what I did to my truck. Turn on the heater and draw fresh air from the outside and spray lysol where it intakes the air. (not your engine's intake). Kills the bacteria or mold that is causing the odor. This worked for my truck, and many other vehicles. Your results may vary. The lysol odor was very strong in my truck for an hour or so, it should be better for you guys if you leave the top down.

change the a/c micron filter?

like the previous poster, it's good habit to shut off the a/c right before destination to get rid of most of the moisture that bacteria builds on.

Check out this site.

It works. Used it on my last car.

Cheers!
