Default Air conditioning shutoff

does our A/C shut off at WOT like it does in many other sports cars? i have a MY02

Really? Still my car feels slugish with the AC on. Usually, if I have to pull out in to traffic quickly, I hit the A/C button....it's like my natural NO2

yeah it's super lazy off the line or when accelerating even at WOT from a low speed, so i was wondering

IIRC, it's not actually throttle that triggers the shutoff. I think it's VTEC -- if you go into VTEC rpms it also declutches the A/C compressor.

im glad i got a ap2, my ap1 was a dog with ac on. But it shuts off after like 6500.

but then getting to VTEC is slowed down, so you lose speed until then. oh well, it's not like i'm always driving the car to the limit. i just get annoyed when i know the car isn't responding the way i want it to.

This isn't rocket science. I suspect that modern Hondas are as sophisticated as the cars of the 70's and 80's. Those used manifold vacuum as a measure of load: at a certain load the compressor cut out, regardless of rpm. These cars have a TPS, don't they? Unless Honda's engineers have their heads where the sun don't shine, whenever the throttle opens more than a certain amount, the compressor will cut out.

If I push the pedal down, I want power not AC for the next few seconds, regardless of rpm.
