Default Alarm Installers...

Some tips to insure that I have a good alarm installer?

I'm also thinking about getting the Alpine SEC 150R. It was recommended. I had thought about the Clifford, but apparently several installers say there have been problems with the warranty etc. A lot just don't carry it anymore I guess because it got bought by DEI which also owns Alpine? Anyway some of you have the Alpine and speak highly of it.

I also read that more important than the alarm is the install. I'm not a mechanic, so I need some help if you can give it to me. The installer says they do a much better job than the local CC etc., that they will sauder the connections, hide the unit in a non-typical place rather than just under the dash. Sounds good. Need other opinions? Help? Thanks.

DEI does not own Alpine. Alpine owns Alpine! But DEI does own Clifford now, as well as Python, Hornet, Wasp, and Sidewinder. Alpine alarms are a little harder to install than a Viper, but they are pretty good alarms. I personally would go with the Viper. I sell Alpine, Viper, and Clifford alarms and the Viper is the best alarm out there! I would recommend the Viper 600ESP. It has a lifetime warranty, 2 stage external shock sensor, door lock controls, extra channel outputs(for trunk pop, auto windows, etc.) and a (2) 4 button remotes. Also, be sure and get the BACK UP BATTERY to make sure that your alarm will be working even if some smart thief cuts your battery cable(yes, it happened to me). Oh, and one more thing...Viper also has a 2 stage proximity sensor that will detect motion outside AND inside the car and is totally adjustable. This will allow you to leave the top down with out so many worries. Find out if your installer is MECP certified. If you have any questions, let me know.......SmoothVTEC@aol.com
