Im from Seattle area. Im away from home for school but I graduate this month and REALLY eager to get home to my Mugen top. Climates as that of the north, they're somewhat predictable. Im predicting I'll be puttin on the hardtop at the beginning/mid fall til about around this time of the year then its soft top the remainder of the year. I have a few friends with the soft top completely removed but I bought a convertible for a reason....BUT....to each its own.

Im with tcho82,

I've got a hoist that makes it pretty easy to put on and take off, but I still leave it off from spring till winter. I'm taking it off this week in fact. I love the way it looks, but I like being able to drop the top in good weather even more.

i bought my car to be a convertible, and dont drive it in the winter, so I dont see the point in a hardtop!

dont get me wrong, I LOVE the look immensely, but for my needs, there is no need

Oh ya, I forgot to mention that I don't drive the S in the winter. So- that leaves April to November. If you drive your S in the winter then a hardtop is perfect because you can use it in the winter and have converitble in the summer.

Son of a... this is killing me! I love convertible so much, but I don't like the look at all when it's up. Hardtop looks way better. Hmmmmmmmm......

Anymore anecdotes?

I've taken my hardtop off a couple times to get my fill of top down driving. But honestly I'm hardtop on 90% of the time. I just like the look so much more. Like you, I think softtop up is horrible.

But I didn't buy this car for it to be a convertable, I bought it for the performance.

Mine is usually on from Oct to April, though I don't take it out much in the winter. During the summer months I'll put the top up on a rare day, just to give the car a differant look. As I enjoy the convertble during the summer I leave the softop in place for parking away from home and if it should rain.

I took my softtop out last summer and put the hard top on permanently. I auto-x and when I do I actually remove the hardtop and run topless and I find visibility is better topless I feel less constrained.

But I don't miss the top down all that much, we'll see how I survive this summer if I find myself taking it on and off a lot or being annoyed and missing the conv aspect of the car I'll reinstall the softtop.

When I had the softtop on I never put the hardtop on it was pointless.

There have been quite a few days this past week where I wish I didnt have the HT, or wished I coulda put the top down. Its very easy to take off, and I have a stand, but that means I have to take it off at home.

I have gone without it while it was getting painted.. but its back on. When I have room in the garage for it, I will probably go top down sometimes. But having the HT is so much nicer (mainly not having to worry about the top getting slashed and stuff dissapearing). The decreased sound noise is also a major plus.
