To all with hardtops

But I didn't buy this car for it to be a convertable, I bought it for the performance.

... I bought this car for the driving experience, it just happened to be a convertable. I don't even like 'verts.
I feel a hardtop is also an investment to save the soft top from the elements. I live in south Texas. The summer sun can beat the top in the summer months. My car is my daily driver and I don't have covered parking at work. The top is easy to take off when the wife and I want to take a top down drive through the hill country.
I take mine off during the whole summer and most of spring, but I keep it on during the winter and fall.
Although I just pulled mine off and the soft top is growing on me more and more everyday so now I might be selling mine but I dunno yet!

I've only had my ht for a week and before wen't topdown as much as possible. I thought I would miss the topdown, but I like my car a lot more with the ht. I love the look and the lexan window is much clearer than my softtop's plastic window. Im sure I will take it off once in a while though.

So, I've got a dissenting opinion. You see, I became an S2000 owner because my Miata is de-softtopped, and hardtopped all the time.
I missed the convertible aspect. I wanted a car to get in and drop the top on every day. I got tired of missing out on sunny drives home from work because it'd looked like rain in the AM and I'd left the hard top on. The biggest mistake I made on the Miata was not getting another soft-top for that car and the Okuyama/Carbing soft-top removal setup to go with my hardtop.
I keep thinking "damn, the S would look good with a hardtop." Then I drive the Miata for a week and keep thinking "damn, this car needs the softtop back!"
Go figure.

I so feel sorry for people who have bought one of the best, most fun top-DOWN cars in the world and are forced to put a top on it. I certainly won't complain to a top up or hardtop S2000 owner but the feeling of the wind, the freedom, the noise, the experience of being outside the car are why I bought my S2000 in the first place. To each his or her own - as long as you are maximizing the fun of driving an S2000.

I don't miss the drop top at all. The hardtop completes the look of the car.
