For all of us who are happy to drive an S2000...

A while back my 16-year old son and I convinced my wife that she needed a 2004 Subaru WRX. Really nice car, bought it 1 1/2 years ago. Handles the corners in a very predictable and positive way and is a ton of fun to modify. We put a turbo XS turbo-back exhaust and Perrin uppipe on it, modified heavier and lowered suspension, turbo XS programmable UTEC, bigger turbo, etc, and it is very very fast. Beat a stock STI the other day in a rolling acceleration run.
But, two months ago I bought a 2004 S-2000 to replace my ailing Prelude. All I have done to it so far is an AEM V2 and a Fujitsubo exhaust, no big deal, mainly for sound. Well I absolutely love driving the S-2000, it is everything I loved about the Prelude and much more. Reminds me of the old English roadsters (Austin Healeys and Triumphs) I drove and worked on as a teenager many years ago but with VTEC.
Well, I drove the WRX yesterday for the first time since I bought the S-2000. I remembered the WRX as having a tight, heavy suspension, crisp handling, heavy but fast steering and a fast-shifting gearbox. It seemed very sloppy, suspension soft and lagging in the corners, the shifter was stiff and very notchy, and the steering wheel felt like an old '57 Chevy wheel, huge, slow, and full of play. The brakes felt like there was air in the lines, the clutch was heavy and lacked precise feel, and the turbo lag was very noticible. In its favor, it had torque to spare.
I was amazed at how much driving the S-2000 had spoiled me. Previously I thought the WRX was one of the best cars I have driven, second only to much higher end cars like the Carerra. The S-2000 is very special. I cannot imagine not owning one in spite of the ribbing I have received at work (mid life crisis!!!).
Anyway, I am really happy to be an S-2000 owner!

You will find the car will spoil you and all other cars feel sloppy and slow. Enjoy! I just hope Honda continues to refine it but not make it over. It is a great sports car for the person who isn't rich.
