Usually I fill in the tank when I have 3 bars left. Because one time when the car was new 2 months ago, it's jump from 3 bars to nothing in less than 2 miles. This time it went down slow 3 - 2 - 1 and the warning just came on when it's 1 bar left. When the last bar went out I set the trip and drive with short shift and cruise down to red light with no gear. I went 10 miles before hit the gas station.

How far can you drive when the last bar gone, before the tank is empty?
10 miles and still going for me.

 

last bars are inaccurate so it varies, but when light turns on u have like what a gallon left or was it half

When I have my fuel light turn on in my 02, I usually have ~2 gallons left.

 

always drive with no bar left, and always scare me that gas will be out anytime

i think you have like...3 gallons left when the light goes on

 

i was driving back from the milpitas meet to sf and thats like a 50-60mile drive. my gas was low at about 2 bars but i though i could make it back. half way home my light turns on and im like shit! its 130 in the morning and all i had was cash no cards...got off and drove for about 5miles and no gas station was open. got back on the freeway and drove for another mile or two got off and drove about a mile and luckly there was this old guy in the shell. i was so happy, got out, paid, and went home. im trying never to go low on gas again anywhere near 3 bars and its time to fill up.

 

I believe our tank hold 13gallons... Last week, I drove about 20 miles after the light went on and filled 10.75 gallons. So, I am assuming we have about 2.5-3 gallons to play with after the gas light comes on.
