Almost time for new rear tires
I've got 34.000 miles now and I had to switch to other tires, because of the rate of wear on the Potenzas.
I think they are one of the best tires you can have but changing the tires every few months is a bit stupid.
The first time I had to change the rears at about 12000 miles (they were completely slick)
Then after another 10000 miles again new rears (again slick), by this time the fronts were also finished, the funny thing is that I drove a bit more calm because I was a bit pissed that my tires were allready finished after 12000 miles however now I managed to do even less distance with them.
I didn't have any problems with the front ones after changing, the front tires were burned through at about 20000 miles, then I put Pirellies, hoping they do not wear that fast

So does anyone know if Tire Rack will give us a discount on tires if we ALL buy them together...of course they still have to drop ship to multiple locations...just a thought.

Hey, I can't complain about TireRack. . .I believe they are some great people over there. . .every time I've ordered tires for my S2000 (with the exception of the crappy Michelin Pilots) I've received excellent service!
Also, the price they sell the tires at is a discount enough. . .
Try pricing an S-02 at a local tire dealer. . .well over $200, I'm sure and via TireRack, you pay $170. . .that can certainly add up when your buying more than one tire!
I'm having my S-02s installed today. I bought mine through tirerack and the shop that's installing them is charging me $12/wheel to mount and balance.
I called a couple of local tire shops to get quotes before I ordered from tirerack and had interesting results. Three of the shops told me that the S-02 had been discontinued and replaced with the S-03. Even after I told them that Bridgestone is still making the Porsche, BMW, and Honda OEM S-02s they said "nope, they're discontinued". The local Firestone store was able to find them in their book (after first telling me that the S-02 was discontinued), they quoted me $566 for two tires including mounting and balancing

I got a bolt in my rear driver's side tire last Saturday and just replaced both rear tires today with OEM S-02s. I had TireRack ship them to the Mr. Tire in Arlington. The rears were $391 shipped plus $50 to install at Mr. Tire for total damage of about $441. When I priced replacement tires at the local tire dealer near my house who is a Bridgestone dealer he quoted me $250 per tire plus install costs for a total over $550.
My tires had 10k miles on them and the tread grooves had a lot of depth and width - the tires looked nothing like the flat bald tires that some have posted pictures of. I think I easily could have gotten 5k more miles with no problem at all. Most of my driving is local with very little on the highway.
I think that those getting short life must drive the car VERY hard and throw it through turns and do multiple clutch drops.

I just bought all four Potenza SO2 OEM W-rated tires for $528 at discount tire. HERE is a link that explains it in detail, but to put it short they are selling me the tires at tire racks wholesale prices ($158 for the fronts and $172 for the rears), and then discounting the cost of one rear tire.
Well, I was a bit off on the mileage on my tires (I only drive the car once or twice a week so I don't always remember the odometer reading). I'm closer to 12,500 miles. I think I might be able to get close to 14,000 miles on my rear tires!
Obviously I don't drive the car hard enough.

Sorry guys, those OEM S-02s aren't that much (if at all) better than some other performace choices. The S-02 prices seem to be climbing and aren'tl, I think, worth it.
