Am I low balling?
Hey guys, I used to be a member but haven't been here in a few years. I owned a 03 Sebring a few years ago and have the worst itch to get another S2k. I don't think there is another car out there that fits me so well.
Anyway, this time I am looking to go with an AP2. The one I was going to buy today was an 05 with 55k miles for $14k but it sold a few hours before I could finalize a sale. I looked at another 05 with 37k miles for $15,500. I have been reading of 04-05 on here going for 13-15k all day long but it seems that 95% of the ones I see posted on autotrader, craigslist, and cars.com want 18-20k. Even the marketplace section here is the same thing.
I found a an 05 with 28k miles that I really like at a higher end used car dealer and the dealer claims not to be flexible at all on price and he has had the car since winter of last year! A few other private sellers talked to me like I am crazy for thinking a AP2 is worth 13-15k with 30-50k miles on it.
I based my prices on what I have seen people here talking about but it seems like it isn't applying in the market. Am I low balling and should I raise the prices I figured?

15k sounds about right. They went WAY down in price since last year. Seen pretty low mile 05's go for 12-13k on eBay multiple times. Lots of people on here want to sell theirs for a good bit more than they go for on eBay and other auctions.
There's a lot more supply than demand these day for them so the price keeps going down. Anytime you look on eBay there are tons if them for sale.

i think your target may be a tad low. 13k for any ap2 is either gonna be a salvage or 100k miles. 15k is pretty realistic for a 50-60k ap2 but still a touch low unless you can find someone that NEEDS to sell it. dealers generally will not be this low although i do hear the occasional story about people negotiating down quite a bit.
LOL!!! You are posting a thread asking if you are lowballing.
Honestly Blue Book on those cars demands a higher price tag than what is being listed on S2ki hence the lower price point.
Dealers and private sellers will usually ask for more since they are only going off of this information. A member trying to sell their S2k here for an aggressive amount will get the hammer dropped on them by other members and can easily ruin the for sale thread with negative posts. This is why the market here is more favorable.
You can't convince someone to sell for less if they feel it is worth the asking price, but at the end of the day the value is determined only by what someone will pay for it and not by any value site or survey book.
If you want 13-15k you will have to be quick on the draw. But to have the advantage of taking your time will end up costing you a few grand. 13-15k for an AP2 with the miles you have listed is a steal and I would not never sell at that price personally. Keep that in mind and good luck with your search.

How much are they asking? Brand new 08's are going for 25k in places now so an 05 should def be 15k or so. Personally I would not spend more for one given these times and many people moving on to other cars.
If you keep looking you'll find one for a good deal.
Many dealers aren't to with the times and current market value so will have the car sit there for months and months before they get rid of it is lower the price.

I just got my 04 silverstone with 56k miles for 15.6k today. VERY clean inside and out, definately worth it.
This is in SOCAL.
I've seen other ap2s with lower or equal mileage go for cheaper in farther cities though.

Based on what I've seen, ~$14k for a good-condition '04 or '05 is definitely low for my area (suburbs of Philadelphia PA). You said in your post that you think $13k - $15k should buy an AP2 with 30k - 50k miles, but that's what 30k - 50k AP1s go for around here.
On Saturday, I sold my excellent-condition '02 with 50k miles for $13.7k and it was only on autotrader for a week (similar mileage AP2s were listed for $16k to $20k). I thought the price was fair, and it was about $100 more than the Edmunds TMV price for my area.
I didn't bother listing it here because so many people on these forums have lower-than-market pricing in mind. Ebay seems to attract bargain hunters too -- search completed listings and see how many auctions expire without hitting the reserve price.
Whatever the case, pricing really seems to depend on location, so it's hard to say what's reasonable for your area. If you're willing to travel you can probably find a better deal. But like someone else said, actual purchase prices set the value, not what people *say* they would pay.

I'm selling my CPO 2004 with full warranty for $16750 this weekend (ie, it is sold at that price). It has 54K miles and the front lip and rear wing, plus XM radio and a K&N FIPK. It is in excellent condition. You're definitely lowballing if the car is in very good condition.
At that price, I'd expect 80K+ miles and some more obvious flaws in the car.
