...also have the Coastal Metals grills. More protection, better looks (IMO), and they aren't that much. Took five minutes to put in and they are completely removable to go back to stock.

Not to be a dick, but it is the RECEIVER, not the condenser. The condenser is the heat exchanger in front of the radiator (it looks like a single row radiator). The receiver stores liquid refrigerant before it goes to the evaporator.

Sorry, I design air conditioners for a living....

txst,

I don't know about the rest of the group, but I like details from an expert. That is one of the best things about this group; when we have a paint problem an expert speaks up, when we have an AC question an expert speaks up, etc.

Thanks for contributing.

tx,

You're not being a dick, so don't fret. I'd rather someone step up and correct my mistakes than let me continue on with my life with incorrect info. Although I actually knew that was the receiver from previous posts, I somehow manage to forget each and every time...give me another few months and I'll be calling it the condensor again 'nuff said...

Wouldn't painting the receiver/condenser/thingy black have a negative impact on the AC's cooling capability?

Hasn't made an iota of difference to mine.

Why in the world would it affect the A/C cooling capacity?? It's a thin coat of paint, not a heating pad.

Back in May (05-19-02 08:41PM) I did a post and then posted pictures of the alterations. I have driven the car at over 100 degrees and going over 12,000 foot passes. My temperature gauge never moved past the three bars.

Click here for the INITIAL POST

Scroll down the page and you will be able to see mine painted. I have had to retouch it twice this summer since I painted it in May. It does get pitted.
