The receiver is for the AC system, not the engine's cooling system...you could break open the reciever and still not see more than three bars on your temp guage.

 

Vic-thanks for the heads-up on your earlier post about hiding the receiver; I had missed it.

LOVE my Coastal Metals S/S grill!! It protects the A/C condenser from rocks, flying debris, and I have just survived rock damage caused by road resurfacing debris to the tune of $4,100.00!!!! and no damage to my A/C condenser.

It looks like it is in the "mouth" of the S2000, which is in the front "face" of the car. Think of it as a handsome tongue stud!

 

Uh, but it will absorb heat from that big, hot, black thing directly below it called the road. Do you think perhaps Honda painted it silver for a reason. Naaa, never.

 

I wouldn't worry about painting it black, unless it was sitting in the sun. I have seen some that owners have painted, and it does look better, in my opinion. The downside to painting them is that, unless you have a grill, it can get nicks in the paint that will show the silver underneath.

 

The roads where I live are white.

Seriously, if you look at the condenser closely, it's not painted silver. It's just aluminum and I don't think Honda intended anything one way or another with respect to it's color because they didn't paint it at all, it's just made of the same lightweight, heat-dissipating metal as the radiator grill.

The color black just doesn't absorb ambient heat and get hot, it gets hot from absorbing sunlight instead of reflecting it, like the color white. Since it's not in direct sunlight, there's no difference what color it is. The temperature of the road has no bearing on the temperature of the condenser (as far as the color of the condenser is concerned). I think the key to remember here is BLACK + SUNLIGHT = HOT.

I only painted the front part black anyway, so I'm not worried about it at all. If my A/C blows up or stops working, you'll be the first person I let know so you can say "I told you so".
